Manly Running Academy is a running club located at the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Manly Running Academy was founded in 1970 by Barry Golding who is still running it today.

About Barry Golding (Founder MRA and coach)

 

Barry is the founder and coach of the Manly Running Academy, and with over 45 years of running experience he is committed to training runners in achieving their best.

 

Quick facts about Barry:

 

Lives in Dee Why, Northern Beaches, Sydney

 

Started running competitively at age 8

 

Proudest Running Moment:
“Too many to count.” Barry has completed an impressive 63 Marathons and hundreds of other races from 800m’s to Ultra Marathons and Multi Sport Events. His favorite race is the 21km Soft Sand Classic on Manly Beach, which he has won consecutively in his division for the last 5 years.

 

Worst Running Moment:
“Never, all running moments are good.”

 

Barry’s running resume:

Ultramathon –  completed 16 races

Marathon –   completed 63 races. Best time: 2 hrs 45 min (Canberra Marathon 1992)

30 km (Specialty) -  completed 23 races. Best time  1h:56:14 (Palm Beach to Manly)

Half Marathons -  completed 151 races. Best time 73:16 (Royal Half marathon Canberra)

10km -   completed 22 races. Best time 35:18 (Melbourne)

Steeple Chase (Track) completed 16 races. All placed, 3 x National Champion

Soft Sand Classic (21.1km)  Winner in his age group for the past six executive years
